Just a quick, short list of some reading selections for the summer:
- San Francisco Public Library Reading Lists Annotated list of lists up to 12 year olds, including special interest topic lists.
- Boulder Public Library Booklists Kids’ Booklists including topics specific for boys, girls, and teachers.
- Boston Public Library Summer Reading Lists Though this list of lists is comprised of area schools’ 2008 lists, the material is very relevant with a space saving approach to compiling. K-12.
- Education World Summer Reading Lists A bit dated, but still some good selections (scroll down to find the lists). K-8.
- Houston Area Independent Schools Library Network Includes a number of recently published books! Compiled by Houston Area Independent Schools (but you probably already had that figured out). Pre-K – 12.
- Manhattan Beach Unified School District Reading Lists Annotated lists of 2009 summer reading selections ranging from 1st grade to 12th grade AP.
- National Endowment for the Humanities Lists of classics for K-12. Last updated in 2003.
- The Horn Book Summer Reading Pre-K through high school. Good list, but as a publisher, they have an obvious bias.
- About dot com Qaulity list of lists.
- American Library Association 2009 Notable Children’s Books Love this list of the latest and greatest for children from birth to 14 years old.
- Database of Award Winning Children’s Literature Do it yourself list with almost limitless scope of options for any age, for any occassion, for any culture, for any gender, and for any interest. And, all selections are award winners.
