20 Jan Plate Tectonics Power Point
With the recent Earthquakes (and ensuing devastation in Haiti), a number of teachers are working to help their students make sense of the events — both from humanitarian and geographical perspectives.
A good friend of mine, Dr. Todd Albert, a climatologist and geography professor, created this power point presentation on Plate Tectonics a few years ago. For teachers looking to provide a high-quality overview (perhaps as a part of a service learning project), this is a perfect lesson that can be presented within one class period.
The simplicity of the design (while sacrificing none of the depth of the topic) allows it to be differentiated up or down depending on your audience. Originally intended for college students, I’ve used this ppt with students as young as 4th grade.
